Chief Engineer

Summary of Position

A hospitality group is looking for a Chief Engineer who is in charge of the efficient operation of all company properties and equipment, maintenance and repair services and protection of the company’s asset. This position will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage MEP team and subcontractors
  • Develop standards of procedures and quality control practices
  • Manage and control work schedule, interventions plan, forms and reports
  • Provide advice to senior management on all aspects of engineering support, environmental controls and the operational efficiency of the property
  • Ensure the effective operation of all the mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by implementing and managing a preventative maintenance program
  • Closely monitor the condition of the physical property and equipment by conducting continual inspections of the building
  • Ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are in operation and regularly upgraded
  • Oversee implementation of a suitable planned preventative maintenance system to ensure the proper maintenance of the equipment to extend the asset life cycle
  • Closely supervise outside contractors to ensure the cost effectiveness and the technical efficiency of all services performed
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with contracts, leases, service agreements and warranties
  • Ensure the quality of all work completed by both employees and external contracted staff adheres to the standards of good engineering practice
  • Ensure a technically competent MEP team by selecting, training and developing a motivated, well-qualified maintenance team
  • Carry out regular work sampling studies within the department and evaluate the performance and productivity of personnel
  • Contribute to guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services quickly address, and where possible, anticipate, individual needs
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of guests, and that any requests for service are handled in a courteous and efficient fashion
  • Plan, implement and administer an energy management program by establishing energy reduction objectives, the maintenance of records and regular reporting of performance against these objectives
  • Communicate effectively with each outlet and department in advance to ensure maintenance, projects and enhancements are carried out with minimum disruption
  • Hold daily meetings within the department and conduct regular meetings with external service providers
  • Manage and develop specific project when required
  • Perform other duties assigned by the group

Experience Required

10 year experiences in engineering and 5 year working experience as Chief Engineer

Minimum Educational Level Required

Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Career Level Required

Experienced (Non-manager)

Languages Required

Fluent in spoken and written English

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering or equivalent
  • A broad knowledge of all Engineering Discipline: refrigeration, kitchen equipment, electrical applications, air-conditioning, plumbing & power generation, fire
  • Exceptional administration and communication skills, planning and organizational skills, leadership, Project and time Management, Problem solving and follow-up ability
  • Ability to do multi-task and set clear priorities, act with responsibility and integrity,
  • Familiar with MS Office and Engineering applications
