Kindergarten/ Primary Teaching Assistant.

Summary of Position

PSIS-First is a subsidiary of Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC), which was authorized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport since December 2015 to provide a high quality of education that is distinctively English based while pursuing academic excellence in every discipline of study. A bilingual education is officially approved as the medium of instruction at PSIS-First for all levels from Kindergarten to High School.

PSIS-First is looking for the Kindergarten/ Primary Teaching Assistant.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the teacher in all his/her daily responsibilities of regular classroom teaching
  • Provide translation from English into Khmer for students when required
  • Organize the classroom and create an environment conducive to learning
  • Observe and record children's learning and development, produce a short report of students’ progress every month
  • Participate in parent-teacher meetings
  • Promote safety, well-being, and the continual growth and development of all students
  • Complete other tasks relevant to a general teaching assistant position
  • Enforce school policies and rules
  • Perform clerical duties as assigned
  • Supervise students in and out of the classroom
  • Keep classroom neat and tidy
  • Observe and assess student’s performance/progress
  • Be able to effectively communicate with students, teacher and parents in some cases
  • Provide individual assistance to students experiencing learning difficulties; assist in research and clarify  instruction/direction
  • Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned
  • Assist students by providing general guidance

Minimum Educational Level Required

Bachelor's Degree

Languages Required


Other Requirements

  • At least two years working experience as a TA or relevant experience
  • Experience with alternative teaching methodologies preferred
  • Ability to create an interactive, student-centered learning environment
  • Show genuine interest and passion for working with primary school students
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven problem solving skills using creative and practical approaches
  • Pro-active, positive work attitude, ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet and e-mail as well as other project management tools
