Process Engineering Manager

Summary of Position

Our client is a subsidiary of a well-known American luxury goods retailer with operations across the globe including Belgium, Vietnam, Mauritius, and Botswana. Currently, they are seeking for a Process Engineering Manager who will be in charge production, engineering and HES in identifying the potential “Continuous Improvement” and Value Optimization projects, suggesting suitable methodologies in executing the same in accordance with company policy and procedure.  He / She will be base in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure designing of appropriate training infrastructure for the plant on lines of CIF and ensuring its effective implementation working closely with HR Department
  • To help plants in identifying the potential “continuous improvement” & value optimization projects & suggesting suitable methodology to execute the same
  • To assist plants in understanding & implementing problem solving tools like MSA (Measurement System Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis), SPC (Statistical Process Control), Process Capabilities, Control Charting etc. in daily routine
  • To drive the concept of Value Stream Mappings (VSM) & other tools of identifying value added & non-value added activities (time motion studies etc.)
  • To drive the Lean concepts of 6S, JIT (Just-In-Time), Kaizen, Kaizen Blitz, Kanban (Pull System) etc
  • To track & report the agreed improvement projects progress in terms of completion & its business impact by developing a database for the projects
  • To develop a strong follow-up program on tracking the project progress
  • To help identifying the process inefficiencies and working actively towards solving the problem through proper root cause analysis working closely with respective departmental teams
  • To highlight any deviation from standards and participate in problem solving and resolution initiatives
  • To ensure that all documentation requirements related to various projects are completed accurately and timely and shared with all concerned
  • Close coordination with other sites so as to share best demonstrated practices among each other
  • Ensuring regular team interactions involved in process improvement activities
  • Works closely with the departments especially Production, Quality, and ICPL to understand issues, work with respective teams, and implement policy, practice and processes to eliminate or reduce errors
  • Anticipates problems/ issues and suggests corrective actions
  • Implement Laurelton Diamond’s manufacturing practices and philosophy
  • Maintain a normal production output, quality checking of stones in the areas required
  • To develop necessary reports and reporting systems to keep plant team updated of progress being made as part of CIF
  • To work closely with all departments including support functions towards improving operational effectiveness
  • Ensure process standardization through use of Dozuki platform

Lead and coach

  • Act as a coach, mentor-motivator, continuously give feedback (both positive and constructive) to plant teams on Continuous Improvement, listen, show empathy, organize corrective actions and training, assess performance in an objective way
  • Provide input as necessary for process improvement across the plant
  • Coach and set plans to manage and improve departmental performance in accordance with CIF
  • Communicate CIF goals and progress clearly
  • Give clear assignment and follow up to all concerned responsible for driving CIF initiatives for the site

Training

  • Coordinate with Regional HR Manager and Plant HRM in implementation of training , across all levels as per the relevant training plan from aspect of CIF
  • Intensively work with his/her team: Supervisors/trainers, achieving training goals in all production areas: Preparation, Blocking, Bruting, Top, Bottom, Table and Star polishing as per training plan prepared by Regional Production Manager
  • Refer to procedures and training programs at all the times and work closely with Regional Managers and Departmental Managers to ensure any revision and updates if required due to process changes or proposed process improvements
  • Ensure all department follows trainings as per the training calendar with scope limited to CIF and related activities
  • Ensure support to production departments in development of training manuals

Communication and Liaison

  • Be an active participant in the Management team
  • Be the communication liaison between the floor teams, colleagues and management.  As a team member leading CIF , PEM point out quality / production issues,  abnormalities in flow, attend meetings, make suggestions to improve, performing in general root cause analysis
  • Liaise actively with production teams working closely with Production Managers (Melee, Sawing) and Regional Production Manager (DEX) to work around improving process efficiencies, especially ensuring recommendations from Regional Production Manager (DEX) are implemented as expected in Melee
  • Liaise with Serialized Production team in providing them necessary CI tools to support them in implementing suggestions from DEX group and in root cause analysis
  • Liaise with the inventory control with regards to process improvements as applicable
  • Liaise actively with Quality assurance making sure quality standards are met through continuous monitoring of quality parameters working closely with Quality Manager and working with Quality team to perform root cause analysis for issues towards problem solving
  • Liaise with the Engineering team to make sure equipment issues are managed effectively which would impact operational effectiveness (suggest measurements like OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), effective maintenance schedules and review mechanism from CI perspective

Security

  • Adheres to security procedures at all times 

Safety

  • Ensure he or she maintains a safe attitude at work and behave in safe manner to prevent accidents and injuries. Supports and participates in all plant related safety training program. Work with Plant Safety Department and Administration  Department to look for opportunities to improve safety

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or other related fields
  • 10+ years of production management operations in middle or senior management role where have handled team of supervisors and workers
  • Good understanding of Lean Management System  and Continuos Improvement
  • Understanding of Industrial Engineering concepts is added advantage
  • Good understanding of flow of production processes and working with support teams like Quality, Finance, HR, IT , Admin etc
  • Excellent team work and communication skills
  • Good statistical/analytical skills
  • Good spoken English and basic English writing ability
  • Previous experience with performance management
  • Practical experience with MS Office
