School Principal

Summary of Position

Our client, a leading international academy specializing in education is looking for a School Principal to lead their academy in Phnom Penh. The School Principal is responsible for managing the policies, regulations and procedures at the school, as well as working in collaboration with other members of the school staff. This position plays an important role in the company, as the School Principal is in charge of leading and achieving the overall missions and vision.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish the annual master schedule for instructional programmes, ensuring sequential learning experiences for students consistent with the company’s philosophy, mission statement and instructional goals
  • Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards, consistent with the philosophy, values, and mission of the school
  • Oversee the development of Curriculum Committee and keep the Board apprised
  • Develop the class schedules and ensure that schedules are being operated smoothly
  • Oversee the grading and the reporting standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement
  • Organize and supervise all school events including field trips, school functions, etc
  • Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in school
  • Ensure compliance with requirements of the accreditation body
  • Maintain a master schedule to be posted for all teachers and staff members
  • Maintain the educational standards established by the accreditation body and MOEYS that examine and accredit the school
  • Be responsible for retention, dismissal, job assignments, performance evaluation, orientation and training of all School faculty members
  • Be responsible for all tests and examinations by ensuring that test schedules, invigilator assignments, and test papers are proper and ready before test days
  • Oversee the school-wide standardized testing programmes
  • Deal with routine school matters, complaints and concerns raised by students, parents and teachers
  • Coordinate new students and teacher’s orientation and responsibilities
  • Supervise the instructional programmes of the schools, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development
  • Be responsible for the student admission process including testing, interviewing, and evaluating of applicants for enrollment
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school personnel
  • Plan and oversee the organization’s advertising and promotion activities including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets
  • Ensure that student records are complete and current
  • Lead School receptions and reunions and other special events
  • Present the school to prospective students, parents, and customers, which include systematic and efficient handling of applications and communication with candidates and their parents
  • Coordinate the teamwork for developing good working relationships with students, faculty and staff
  • Continuously improve the quality of teaching and learning
  • Regularly conduct teacher training and orientation

Experience Required

Professional experience of several years proven in the field of training or academic administration, with a Master's Degree (or equivalent) in the field of education or related field.

Other Requirements

  • Master's degree level (or equivalent) in the field of Education, preferably curriculum development and educational management and leadership

  • Proven experience working in positions of responsibility in the international school
  • Managerial experience in a multicultural environment with international assignments
  • Prior experience working in a multicultural workplace is an advantage
  • Prior Education-related work experience or knowledge is an advantage
  • Friendly and approachable, with good people skills
  • Knowledge and experience of IPC and IEYC
