Country Manager (Khmer Speaking)

Summary of Position

Our client is an international retail company in Cambodia. They are looking for a Country Manager who will be responsible for planning, managing and executing the company’s compliance and quality assurance activities throughout the entire product life cycle processes. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Product Knowledge

  • Understand the guest expectation through product standards, specification, approval samples and testing requirement/protocols to oversight field operations
  • Identify risky/critical operations and better solutions for enhanced quality, efficiency and productivity
  • Assign proper team member with right product knowledge for the right program management

Technical Knowledge

  • Understand main production flow and manufacturing process of related category and able to conduct detail level process mapping
  • Understand machine and production equipment main function, capability and capacity; can calculate and determine process capability index; can identify key bottlenecks in production
  • Understand process management - able to determine the critical process to quality and its control plan to prevent or mitigate potential risks/issues in product quality and guest experience
  • Identify team's technical knowledge gap, facilitate and steer the learning and sharing of technical knowledge to fill in the gap

Quality Management

  • Understand quality management concept & tools to oversight field operations
  • Lead team to properly apply quality tools to prioritize factories and categories based on TSS sourcing strategy
  • Comprehensively assess factory’s quality management system, review and validate CAPA/PTP and the effectiveness and sustainability
  • Lead team to drive continuous improvement in business partner/factory quality management system

Factory Performance Assessment & Oversight

  • Lead team to analyze factory capability, quality and production performance to hold vendor accountable in supply chain performance elevation
  • Engage in factory matrix optimization and influence business decision through CFT collaboration based on quality performance

Decision Making & Critical Thinking

  • Steer decision effectiveness and efficiency, take smart risk based on facts, figures and guest insights through critical thinking
  • Ensure team members' decision making aligned with company's best interests

Problem Solving and Prevention

  • Master comprehensive problem solving and prevention tools to resolve and prevent technical and quality problems/issues and drive continual improvement with business partners in both short and long term

Manage Execution

  • Actively engage in upstream involvement (e.g., objective review, quality standard, product specification development) from PSQA perspective
  • Identify key quality and capability callout (e.g., manufacturing variability, critical to quality, manufacturability to scale) at the proposed factory location from product development stage
  • Utilize FRM operating model to secure the product quality & business partner performance, lead and ensure team’s execution on FRM
  • Adhere to the company’s global standards, policies, processes & procedures, assess, coach and oversight team’s execution and consistency through Field Leadership activity and developmental conversation

Manage Team

  • Play the role as office head to oversee office operations to ensure business is conducted in compliance with corporate guidelines and local laws and regulations
  • Managing for Results/High Performing Team, Coach, motivate and develop direct reports as well as the team
  • Able to identify team's competency and skill gaps, facilitate and steer the learning and sharing expertise among each other to fill the gap
  • Manage and review performance of the team, asses’ potential for growth and identify career path and succession plan
  • Own personal and team development through continuous learning and proactively seek new assignments that will help build knowledge and improve skills
  • Lead the transformation with team and lead though changes
  • Determine productivity and overall effectiveness of available resources to ensure adequate staffing, cost efficiency (budget expense) and drive team working efficiency to maximize productivity
  • Constantly assess, redeploy and exit misaligned talents

Manage Project

  • Actively participate in global projects and contribute with oneself best knowledge and expertise and collaborate with functional/CFT peers for progress discussion
  • Lead, contribute and support to develop and optimize Category Manufacturing Capability benchmarking model, category cost breakdown and quality index

Vendor / Factory – Supply Chain Management: Support new vendor/factory onboarding process from PSQA perspective to accelerate the business development, in partner with cross functional teams, ensuring consistent compliance to company requirement

Coaching / Consulting: Provide specialized consultation to prioritized vendors / factories to elevate their performance based on the company’s business needs and CFT’s inputs

Drive Profitability: Manage timely, organized and equitable workload distribution and scheduling to Implement and ensure CFT Collaboration, Communication and Engagement

Branding: Act as company branding team member being result oriented, self-motivated, dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic

Reporting to

  • Managing Director

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in engineering and/or technical disciplines equivalent and/or retail compliance, quality management, product or manufacturing industry equivalent
  • Minimum 6-9 years’ experience in garment industry and minimum 4 years in supervisory/management capacity with similar operational scope and complexity
  • Experience with a US or European based corporation
  • In depth knowledge of US/Canada regulatory and safety requirements (QA)
  • Excellent leadership/interpersonal, communication skills in English and local language
  • Strategic thinking and ability to plan, lead, organize and execute
  • Result orientated, self-motivated, dedicated, enthusiastic and energetic and committed to continuous learning
  • Ability to travel locally and/or internationally
  • Ability to perceive and differentiate between colors
  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows and Office software applications
