Customs House Brokerage Specialist

Summary of Position

Maersk: Customs House Brokerage Specialist role is to drive and manage all physical activities under the scope of Intermodal and all Customs House related. The incumbent needs to work closely with customs officers, Intermodal team, local products; Legal and compliance on the desire expectation on cost optimization and process excellence; business compliance and reliable service to enhance customer’s satisfaction. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as focal point to coordinate customs documents (Invoice/Packing list, BL, Truck Bill, Form D/E, Authorization letter, customs permit, duty tax tariff verification, cargoes commodity clarification, HS Code verification etc …)  
  • Manage the customs clearance procedure to ensure all activities are 100% compliant with timely deliver as desire expectation
  • Act as focal point to coordinate between parties (Intermodal, Customs officers, Suppliers, Customer service, Sales, Product, Procurement etc.) to ensure a smooth operating of customs clearance 
  • Manage the execution of all day-to-day CHB activities locally including ocean bundled shipment or standalone request
  • Work closely and collaboratively across functions (Legal and Compliance, Procurement/LoC, HSSE, TSVM, FIN, Sale, Products) towards the customer’s requirements; product development and company’s strategies
  • Act as focal point to cascade down all customs law and regulations, announcements and any change to Intermodal, Product and Sale
  • Deliver Customer KPIs, SLA, SOP/IOP in a compliance way
  • Ensure high compliance on legislative requirements and organizational rules and policies
  • Engage and build strong connection with customs, ensure we work in a collaborative manner & make effort for improvement on the Leadtime of customs document processing and clearance
  • Provide the training/sharing upon the requirements from Product/Sale

Minimum Educational Level Required

Bachelor's Degree

Experience

  • Strong experiences from relevant industry (Logistic, transportation, shipping…).
  • Strong experiences from customs house brokerage process
  • Experiences attending Customs house brokerage courses and passed the exam
  • Qualified Customs House Brokerage License is preferable
  • Be able to engage teams from different working sites ensuring they work in a collaborative manner to achieve common objectives      

Languages:

  • The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
  • English proficiency
  • Chinese is a plus

Others:

  • Passionate in driving continuous development; work with creative and innovative mindset
  • Operational background including supply chain operations, ocean, air and local origin services (trucking, customs, and milestone visibility)                                   
  • Proven ability to be able to work pressure and strong ownership                            
  • Ambitious and result oriented, self-starter with initiative and strong drive
  • Possess excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, time management and root cause problem solving (RCPS) and presentation skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Network/contacts within the international/local logistics industry/ local authorities
  • Undergraduate degree minimum
