Design Engineer

Summary of Position

Our client is an international construction company in Cambodia. They are looking for a Design Engineer who will be supporting the creation of the project Design Management Plan and strategy and ensure all members of the design team are aware of their responsibilities, enforce the company Design Management process and policies. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain long term relationships with appropriate stakeholders
  • Manage the review and appointment of the design team, including scope, fee, T&C's, roles and responsibilities
  • Manage the completion and maintenance of the Design Management Plan and design brief, which includes: Client Requirements, Cost, Program, Best Practice Design Standards, Production Logistics, Facilities Management, Contract Agreement, BIM process and standards
  • Ensure the design complies with brief, contract, all appropriate legislation, and Governmental/Authority approvals and technical requirements
  • Manage reviewable design date with client and ensure contractor's proposals are compliant with employer's requirements
  • Manage the interface between the design team, client, stakeholders, suppliers, project team and the FM providers Establish regular design reviews to monitor progress of design work and ensure that all solutions meet the requirements of the clients’ brief
  • Produce coordinated design briefs for all disciplines
  • Work with the senior team to ensure that the Design Program is maintained
  • Ensure that all responsibilities under H&S regulations are maintained.
  • Manage the Value Management and Value Engineering process when required
  • Ensure compliance with project documentation and company documentation
  • Undertake line management responsibilities for direct report staff ensuring each is effectively managed, had a current performance review and training plan, and are able to carry out duties as assigned to them.
  • Ensure compliance with project documentation and company documentation, i.e. IMS, PEP and Kill’s. Ensure that the design supports company commercial expectations

Other Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in engineering
  • Relevant recognized proven experience/exam based professional chartered   qualification/Membership
  • The management of a specialist team against cost and demanding delivery program
  • Contract development experience in a variety of construction contracts
  • Demonstrable track record of working 15 years minimum on a verity of large complex construction projects with 7 years in civil infrastructure delivery with all aspects of Critical Path Method scheduling and its application
  • With a strong proven technical background in construction technics and the delivery and development of construction methods statement.
  • The management of a specialist team against cost and demanding delivery program
  • Contract development experience in a variety of construction contracts.
