Doctor of the health center

Summary of Position

Toutes à l'école is looking for Doctor of the health center. The Doctor of the health center will be ensure all students of HCS have the adequate medical care, it being preventive or curative. Also, ensure the basic care to staff and community members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

PREVENTIVE MEDECINE in order to detect somatic, psychological, environmental problems that contribute to developmental disorders

  • (½ day each day, keeping some time for possible emergencies)
  • Carry out systematic medical check-ups, including medical examination, visual and auditory screening, weight, height and BMI
  • Students of level 1, 2, 6 or 7, 9 or 10 (around 400 students/year)
  • VTC students: around 35/year
  • At the beginning of the school year (first 2 months) conduct assessment of aptitude for competitive sports and level  8 students running the Angkor marathon (approximately 300 students/year)
  • Vaccinations:

Level 1

  • Hepatitis B without serological testing prior to vaccination (around 100 students X3)
  • Polio and Tetanus: without serology (around 100 students X3)
  • Additional vaccinations as directed by the medical referent

VTC and staff

  • Vaccine Hepatitis B with serological testing prior to vaccination of Hep B and HIV (40 students + new agents of kitchen staff X3)
  • Tetanus vaccine as directed by the ministry regulations
    • Enter the results of medical check-ups, screenings and vaccinations on the database.
    • Check the information of all check-ups: medical, psychological, social and dental, in order to identify any children who require special attention, refer your analysis to the other teams and decide in a collegial way (= with other teams), an appropriate procedure for these children with difficulties.
    • Examine students who require closer monitoring, at intervals that are more frequent
    • Label the medication given to the boarding school students, call to inform boarding school managers about the prescription and treatment.
    • Ensure the prevention of intestinal parasites in the school community

CURATIVE MEDECINE: (½ of each day)

  • For the children of the three campus who come to the medical cabinet for a symptom, or who have been detected during “school medical check-up”
  • For students over 12 years old and VTC students who request it: medical and gynaecological check-up, contraceptive advice
    • Examine and define a procedure to follow
    • Inform parents or legal guardian about the continuing care
    • Treat and provide treatments for primary care (symptoms)
    • Refer to specialists (Hospitals, NGOs, or Dispensaries) and/or Paris medical referent if necessary for additional examinations, specialized advice and treatment of proven pathologies. Maintain close collaboration with consulting physicians
    • Provide ongoing care if  possible
    • Document all the results of the medical and complementary examinations and of the treatments administered in the individual paper or electronic patient record (EPR) and record them on the database
    • The doctor will report the medical activities monthly to the Health Unit Supervisor and to the medical referent (see doc.1)
      • For members of the community and staff: idem
      • Within the school, the doctor is requested to see to all emergencies and go on site

MEETINGS

  • Attend weekly SOSA team meeting
  • Attend weekly  Health Unit team meeting

EXTERNAL MISSIONS

  • Participate in the organization of external missions such as Cambodian or foreign medical professionals from other missions (volunteers, Bioderma, ASF, Pour les Yeux du Monde ... etc) and actively work with them

OTHERS

  • Take part in school events, workshops, trainings, outings and activities which may take place at weekends or in the evening
  • Work closely with the “Health Unit” supervisor, of which he will be the technical advisor
  • Works according to the organization forecasted by the Health Unit supervisor (see doc. 2)
  • Collaborate with other HC health professionals (sexual education, dietetics, hygiene, social workers, psychologists, dentists and teachers) and Doctors (partners) in hospitals, dispensaries, NGOs
  • Know how to ensure « health » team cohesion.
  • Respect school rules and regulations
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Liaise with all colleagues and work flexibly

Other Requirements

  • Qualified doctor
  • 2 years’ experience minimum
