Finance Director

Summary of Position

Our client is a non-governmental organization in Cambodia. They are seeking a Finance Director who will be responsible for ensuring the (re)grow of the organization into the future, as they launch their next strategic plan. They are looking for someone who can ensure their finance and operating procedures are best practiced, flexible and fit the purpose at this important time of transition. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and improve the annual and multi-year rolling forecasting tools and processes, and the financial planning models (medium-term and long-term)
  • Provide analysis and commentary on budgets, undertake scenario modelling and analysis to demonstrate the flow of funds, and use this to offer guidance to the leadership team on the best use of funds across the organization
  • Ensure the leadership team and Board has access to analysis and information to support in decision making, including analysis and advice on new business and growth opportunities
  • Strengthen grants compliance & management
  • Ensure the organization meets financial and legal obligations in all markets where they work
  • Work with leadership team colleagues in designing the fundraising strategy (e.g. grants, earned income and investments), prepare the financial models and support presentations made to funders/investors
  • Ensure the organization is working with the best suppliers and adopting the best technological/operational systems for their needs – including investors, banks, suppliers, auditors, operating systems
  • Oversight of the finance staff, responsible for hiring and retaining a qualified team
  • Identifying what financial structure the organization will need as they grow

  • Managing Director

Other Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with excellent analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Strong experience of developing budgets and forecasts
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and the ability to present complex financial information to a broad range of finance and non-finance staff
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, able to manage a varied workload with different priorities and deadlines
  • Commercially astute, with drive, enthusiasm and curiosity
  • Proactive
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring (senior) finance staff in their roles
  • Experience leading an organization through a period of growth
  • Experience of working in an international organization with a complex structure and multiple income streams
  • Knowledge of grants compliance & reporting
  • Experience of working in an NGO
