Manager of Grading Lab

Summary of Position

Our client is a subsidiary of a well-known American luxury goods retailer with operations across the globe. They are looking for a Manager of Grading Lab who will be responsible for Maintaining constant visibility and awareness of the grading stock levels and work closely with Gemological Laboratory and Production Planning teams to set effective priority and productivity goals. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide updates via weekly shipping plan and during bi-monthly grading lab meetings. Appropriately plan and utilize multi-skill staff to manage changes in incoming grading volume and priorities while strictly applying company gemological standards and operational procedures. 
  • Provide monthly Supply Chain Management/Quality Product Operation and KPI (Key Person Indicator) reports including achievements, challenges, targets, and opportunities. 
  • Partner with relevant departments to troubleshoot system transaction issues in a timely manner. Physical inventory checks to be performed periodically with discrepancies and other collaboration needs and report accordingly.
  • Drive staff performance and accountability by setting and communicating clear performance expectations. 
  • Closely work and seek guidance from Grading Director, Plant Director, and HR department as appropriate.
  • Lead the creation, coordination, and implementation of operational and technical initiatives to increase overall grading lab efficiency.
  • Overseeing Grading Lab with respect to personnel, budget, equipment, accuracy, and value-added service referencing monthly KPI and budgets.
  • Create/update appropriate documents (process flows, procedures, and work instructions) outlining new/updated technology implementation.
  • Maintain a close partnership with all departments involved with our processes.
  • Security, Health, Safety, and Corporate Policy Adherence. At all times maintain awareness of security protocols both internal and external, of the grading lab.
  • Develop plans to reduce risk as needed to maintain the security of all stock, the lab, and the workforce.
  • Demonstrate leadership by leading safety process checks & improvement projects in coordination with continuous improvement initiatives for our best product quality in the world.

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor in related or complimentary field or relevant work experience
  • 3+ years' experience of working related or other relevant position preferably in a production environment
  • Experience in project management and budgeting
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills٫ with a good ability to build relations with employees
  • Fluency in English language spoken and written, strong organizational skills with business-oriented thinking, and strong interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to create a good working atmosphere is maintained by promoting an environment of mutual respect and by ensuring that employees and problems are handled in a fair and transparent manner
  • Practical experience with MS Office and other relevance software.
