Medical Doctor - Full time

Summary of Position

The Public Health and Epidemiology Unit of Institut Pasteur in Cambodia is conducting in collaboration with Institut Pasteur in Paris a prospective cohort study of pregnant women and newborns in two locations in Cambodia: Kampong Speu province and Phnom Penh. The objective of this study is to estimate the incidence of bacterial infections and resistance to antibiotics in neonates, infants and young children.

Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is therefore recruiting a full time study Medical doctor to work on the ChARLI Cambodia project. The contract is for 9 months renewable.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the ChARLI coordinator in Cambodia, the Study Medical Doctor will:

· Provide assistance with the implementation and monitoring of the ChARLI Cambodia project

· Work closely with the ChARLI team and the national medical and nursing teams involved in the project

· Provide support for training and monitoring the ChARLI midwives and nurses

· Be involved in other duties as needed

This position is based in Phnom Penh but involves regular travel to Kampong Speu (around 50% of the time).

Languages Required

Fluent in English. French would be an asset

Other Requirements

  • Medical doctor. Specialization in pediatrics and gyneco-obstetrics would be an asset
  • Willing to travel in Kampong Speu province
  • Good teaching skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently & as a member of a team
  • Genuine interest and commitment to the Good Clinical Practices for health research
  • Computer literacy: Excel, Word, Power Point
