School Principle

Summary of Position

Our client is a well-known international school in Cambodia. They are looking for a School Principal who will be in charge of preparing a strategic view of successfully developing and improving the school within the framework of the school’s vision and mission, following principles of School. Advising the SD and BoD on the formation of its policies and their implementation as well as involving the school community, especially parents and guardians of the students. He /She will be based in Phnom Penh

Main Duties and Responsibilities

TEACHING & LEARNING

  • Give a high priority to the further development of a wide range of teaching and learning opportunities, in particular in the context of learning through ICT and exposure to different languages, besides English and Khmer language
  • Ensure that a system for monitoring and developing the quality assurance of teaching and learning is in place
  • Ensure that AERO and other curriculum standards are set, fully understood by all teaching staff and met by the students
  • Promote the effective management of student behavior with the help of parents through the Parent as Partners Association (PaPA)
  • Ensure that there the school’s assessment system and policies is followed strictly
  • Ensure the recording and reporting system of student progress
  • Monitor and evaluate the curriculum and suggest changes to academic team

LEADING AND MANAGING STAFF

  • Maximize the contribution of all staff to improving the quality of education provided and standards achieved
  • Manage effectively the deployment and performance of all staff according to the school policies and reporting constantly to the School Director
  • Ensure that the requirements for performance management are fully in place
  • Create and maintain good working relationships amongst all members of the school community
  • Sustain motivation
  • Promote the school’s ethical guidelines in which integrity is expected from all members of the school community
  • Ensure that professional duties are fulfilled as specified in the employment contracts and job descriptions of all staff
  • Have a duty of care regarding staff welfare
  • Encourage initiative and teamwork

EFFICIENT AND EFFECTIVE USE OF STAFF AND RESOURCES

  • Develop, organize and implement adequate marketing strategies to ensure a healthy growth of student enrollment
  • Develop marketing channels, in particular through active networking and effective use of social media
  • Plan, manage and monitor the agreed budget, setting appropriate priorities for expenditure allocating funds and ensuring effective administration control
  • Ensure the regular monitoring of the budget by the accounting staff
  • Manage and organize space efficiently and effectively to ensure that it meets the needs of the curriculum and health and safety requirements
  • Seek to secure adequate resources for the school

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Work very closely with the School Director and BoD
  • Secure a positive working relationship with the school leadership
  • Provide information, objective advice and support to the School Director
  • Ensure that the school has a system for the collection and analysis of performance data to promote school improvement
  • Present a coherent and accurate record of the school performance in a form appropriate to a range of audiences
  • Ensure that parents and students are well informed about schoolwide-learner outcomes, curriculum standards, and students’ progress and are able to understand targets for improvement
  • Develop and encourage working partnerships with parents and other stakeholders
  • Develop and encourage good relations between the school and the local community, public administration officials, health professionals, NGOs as well as local and international partners

Other Requirements

  • Have Teaching experience or deputy head teacher experience and holds a Degree in Education
  • At least 5 years’ experience in education industry
  • Fluency in English must (verbal & written), and other languages are an advantage
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and good public speaking skills
  • Leader with a positive and dynamic personality, able to adapt to different cultures
