Social Worker

Summary of Position

The NPH/HCVI Social Work Partnership is piloting the establishment of a medical social worker model in hopes of setting high standards for international rehabilitation social worker positions.

In cooperation with National Pediatric Hospital (NPH), HCVI Medical Library, and HCVI team; Founder, Country Director, and Social Worker/Human Services Specialist, the Social Worker will be assigned to the newly established NPH Rehabilitation Center to provide services and programs to support patients, their families, and community members.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Care Management/Care Coordinator

    • Assess new patients and share results with other involved medical professionals
    • Collaborate and facilitate communication between patients and care providers, while monitoring progress
    • Constantly adapt evidence-based Interventions
  • Patient and Family Educator

    • Provide culturally appropriate information about rehabilitation services, needs, and psychosocial therapies to encourage recovery process

  • Group Facilitator for Patient Therapy Sessions

    • Lead grief, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and emotional support groups for patients with disability, based on evidence-practice
    • Aim to provide interventions that will increase empowerment and ability to deal with disabilities and physical impairments that may have led to suffering. Provide a practical functional approach to end-of-care treatment for patients
    • Provide local resources for current patients and patients leaving HCVI Rehab
  • Community Outreach Projects

    • Reach out to the community (physically or not) and identify patients in need of Rehabilitation Services
    • Advertise for Rehabilitation and increase consciousness about the importance of the service
    • Recruit patients in need of service at the NPH Rehabilitation Center
    • Be a continual learner and meet NGOs, Nonprofits, and other service providers to develop referrals and resources
  • Report accurate details in a timely manner

    • Provide weekly written updates and monthly reports to Social Worker/Human Services Specialist, as well as communication throughout the week with HCVI Country Director,  HCVI Founder, and NPH Management Team
    • Attend weekly case consultation meeting with Social Work and Human Services Specialist
    • Be up-to-date with videos and reports with relevant information, as well as be an active educated employee and reader of Hinari, including other medical and mental health articles available

Minimum Educational Level Required

Bachelor's Degree

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Social Work required.
  • Interest to work with patients in a rehabilitation setting, as well as occasional community outreach opportunities.
  • Be honest, transparent, and willing to work in a team.
  • Ability to work positively, empower others, and develop a rapport with diverse people.
  • Experience working with individuals and families, preferably in a rehabilitation or medical facility.
  • Experience conducting individual assessments, while developing future-focused goal-oriented interventions that can help patients reach their full potential.
  • Experience in group facilities preferred.
  • Ability to manage stressful, high-intense setting, while keeping professional in all situations.
  • Ability to learn quickly on how to work with electronic record keeping and reporting, with expertise desired for Google documents.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Khmer and English.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, prioritize tasks, and meet all deadlines.
  • The desire to learn more.
  • English is a plus.

Salary Based on Experience, Degree, and Cambodian Standard Wage for Social Workers

  • Starting salary range to be discussed in the first interview.
