Technical Design and Costing Manager

Summary of Position

Our client is a real estate and property development company in Cambodia. They are seeking a Technical Design and Costing Manager who will manage Design and Costing team and ensure workflow and procedures are executed properly. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage Design & Costing Team by initiating new workflow / procedure
  • Ensure effective communication and negotiation between all design consultants and in-house designers in order to ensure high quality of design
  • Ensure the design team produces correct and final shop drawings- if not production drawings- for the site engineers to follow
  • Evaluate & negotiate labour cost for construction work
  • Coordinate work with the external consultant and contractors or sub-contractors to prepare detailed list of materials needed to achieve design and construction intent
  • Ensure that the site manager, site supervisors and site engineers fully and correctly understand the shop drawing and crucial design features of each project by providing training and running workshop for them before the start of the construction work
  • Coordinate work with the cost and planning/ QS team to ensure the production of highly accurate BOQs
  • Periodically make site visit to ensure construction follow design drawings
  • Periodically make site visit to take sample of material specifications, eg. brick dimensions, to ensure that the shop-drawings are in line with actual site conditions and thus follow-able on site
  • Be able to synthesize feedback and relay it accurately and appropriately
  • Ensure the production of As-built Drawings and Manuals for each product in the project
  • Maintain staff job results by counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Arrange, check, & follow up all agreements sub-contractors and external consultants
  • Prepare monthly report to Project Director
  • Manage and coordinate with subordinators in working, reporting, and solving issues
  • Evaluate & negotiate labour cost for construction work

Other Requirements

  • Bachelor / Master Degree in any related fields (Civil Engineering, MEP, & Architecture)
  • Minimum 2-4 year-experience in construction or related work
  • Good command of reading, writing and speaking English
  • Proficiency in Computer Skills (Auto CAD 2D & 3D, Microsoft Project, Engineering software, and others)
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with internal and sub-contractors
  • Demonstrate positive and flexible attitude and high commitment
