Business Development Manager


Our client is an international pharmaceutical company in Cambodia. They are looking for a Business Development Manager who will explore and seek opportunities to identify and secure viable new business for the Company, based on compiled market research and data, and the Company’s strategies and direction of growth. He/she will be based in Phnom Penh.


  • Assess opportunities of new molecules & products in the Cambodian marketplace, builds market assessments based on prescribing, patient and consumer behavior
  • Manage contract renewals & new contract reviews and negotiations in close cooperation with the General Manager
  • Manage the members of the business development team
  • Be member of the management team in providing strategic Business Development vision and strategic direction to accomplish corporate goals, objectives and growth
  • Foster close working relationships with the General Manager and with other Management Team members and other departmental staff in terms of communication, information and development of various business proposals to potential Clients
  • Collaborate with the regional Client Development and Commercialization teams to support regional business development projects
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and potential Clients in the healthcare industry
  • Conduct calls, presentations and meetings with potential Clients to secure new business, and to negotiate various terms and conditions with regards to the Company’s service offering
  • Participate in industry events and professionally engage with Clients outside of the office (business lunches / dinners and so on)
  • Identify, develop and establish contact with potential clients in line with the Company’s business development strategy
  • Assess products and molecules suitability for the Cambodian market
  • Promote Company’s various services to potential and existing clients
  • Maintain close contact and enhance working relationships with existing Clients
  • Manage and roll out special projects approved by the General Manager to support the business requirements of the organization
  • Responsible for the organizational structure, roles and responsibilities for the Business Development Division
  • Develop a high performance service culture within the Business Development Division
  • Plan, organise and direct an efficient and effective Business Development Division
  • Develop and set KPIs with individual direct reports and monitor individual performance
  • Manage the allocation of appropriate resources and commitment of staff to the achievement of Company and Corporate Office objectives and targets
  • Identify training needs and coaching opportunities to develop highly skilled Business Development Division team


  • General Manager


  • Degree holder (University), Pharmacists, Medical Doctors, Chemistry degrees are an advantage
  • 8 years of relevant experience preferably with exposure to acquiring new business ventures with 5 years at a senior management level
  • Previous working experience in pharmaceutical industry would be an advantage
  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • In depth knowledge of Company’s products and services
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical & consumer healthcare market in Cambodia
  • Good understanding of Pharmaceutical products & molecules
  • Knowledge of regulatory & legal requirements, and company operations &procedures
  • Negotiation and Influencing skills
  • Interpersonal skills, communications skills (Both verbal and written), presentation skills, analytical skills, and people Management skills
  • Read and comprehend financial statements (Business Acumen)
  • Problem solver, positive attitude, Sales Sense, self-awareness, adaptable, and multitasking
